Taking a Day Trip to London From Horsham, West Sussex
Since we weren’t planning on staying in London for the end of our trip like we typically do when we visit England, Scott and I decided to do a day trip by train from Horsham (West Sussex) to London Victoria Station for a total of about a 50 minute commute - not bad! We started our morning off with a light breakfast and coffees at Pret-a-Manger, then walked over to “our spot” to take photos. This is our tradition every time we visit London, we will stop by the Italian Fountains/Gardens located in Kensington Gardens to take photos where Scott proposed back in 2017.
Afterwards we shopped on Oxford St, making sure to stop in at Lush because this location is massive and has a lot of store specific exclusives. We just so happened to be there when they were having their Bridgerton pop up/activation. We were able to sit down for a cup of tea while also testing out products from their Bridgerton range. We then got to take AI photos that results in looking at Bridgerton characters/from the Regency period and I definitely grabbed a handful of things from that collection along with some of my faves.
A few more stops including Primark and WornWell, then walk through Chinatown and settled for a pint break at a local pub. Afterwards, we headed to Jumak39 Leicester Square for all you can eat Korean BBQ! We did an early dinner to avoid long waits, since we have seen this restaurant packed before. AYCE/buffet dining starts at 5pm, so we got there when that dining option was available. We were the only party in the AYCE dining area, so that was nice becausecould eat at our own pace and enjoy a fully stocked buffet section.
Ended the day with a digestion walk by Buckingham Palace, then hopped on the train to get back home. Also stopping by a souvenir store so I could finally grab an Oxford University sweatshirt/jumper (I’ve been wanting one of these uni style sweatshirts for the longest time). Our roundtrip rail tickets were $50.18/each, and all in all this was a very nice, easy and cost-effective way for us to see and experience London without have to spend 2-3 days there before flying home. If not your first visit, would you do a day trip to London, or would you want to spend more time there?
